What RestRight Is For

This site covers sleep: mattresses, pillows, bedding, blackout, cooling, noise, and the equipment around getting a decent night. The aim is to answer what people ask before buying and what they ask afterward when something is not working.

Most of what we publish is either a buying guide that narrows a decision or a problem-solving article addressing something specific, like a room that stays too warm or curtains that leak light at the edges.

Who Runs This Site

RestRight is independently owned and operated by one person. It is not a media company, has no parent organization, and is not affiliated with any mattress brand, retailer, or manufacturer whose products appear here.

The person running it has dealt with chronic insomnia since his teens, sleeps on his side, and has spent a lot of years and a fair amount of money on the problem. That is the origin of the site and the reason it exists.

How We Research What We Publish

Articles are built from manufacturer documentation, product specifications, established sleep guidance from independent bodies, and a household that has tried a great many things in pursuit of better sleep.

Where we have direct experience with something, we say so and describe what that experience actually was, including where it disappointed. Where we do not, the article is written in a research voice and makes no claim to hands-on use.

We cite independent authorities on sleep health rather than mattress companies, because a brand describing why its own product helps you sleep is marketing rather than evidence.

Photography

Where an article carries a photograph of a product in use, that photograph is original and shows equipment actually owned and used in this household. Those images are not stock, not supplied by a manufacturer, and not reused across articles.

Articles without that kind of direct experience use stock photography, and the absence of an original photo is itself a signal about what kind of article you are reading.

How Recommendations Are Chosen

Products are selected on documented specifications, construction, and fit for the specific use the article addresses. Availability matters too, since recommending something nobody can buy helps nobody.

No manufacturer pays for placement here, no product is included because a brand asked, and no ranking has ever been sold. There are no sponsored posts on this site.

We also do not accept free products in exchange for coverage, which keeps the question of obligation from arising at all.

How We Make Money

This site participates in the Amazon Associates program. When you buy through a link here, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you.

That creates an obvious incentive to recommend expensive things, and the way we handle it is to say when something cheaper does the job and when you should not buy at all. Several articles on this site conclude that the reader does not need the product in question.

Our full affiliate disclosure covers the arrangement in detail.

Our Limits, Stated Plainly

We do not run sleep studies. We do not measure firmness with instruments or test materials in controlled conditions. We have not slept on most of the mattresses we write about.

We also are not doctors. Sleep problems can have medical causes, and persistent insomnia, snoring that stops breathing, or unrefreshing sleep despite adequate hours are all reasons to see one rather than to buy something.

What we offer is careful research, honest first-person detail where we have it, and a clear account of what a specification actually means for someone trying to sleep.

Corrections and Updates

Articles are revisited when products are discontinued, when specifications change, or when we learn something that makes an existing recommendation wrong.

If you find an error, tell us through the contact page. Corrections are made to the article rather than appended as a note, since the goal is that the page is right rather than that its history is visible.

We would rather be corrected than be wrong quietly.
